Air Conditioners

An air conditioner is what makes living in Atlanta bearable! Your air conditioner depends on the indoor coil and fan motor to keep your home cool. Heat energy is removed from your home by forcing warm indoor air through the chilled coil. An air conditioner’s efficiency is measured with a SEER rating.

Heat Pumps

Heat pumps look and function just like an air conditioner in the summer heat by compressing and chilling refrigerant. However, a heat pump can also provide warm air for your home by reversing the cooling process. Instead of removing heat energy from indoor air and dissipating it outside, it removes heat energy from outside,

Gas Furnaces

When winter nights drop down to the 20′s and 30′s, the hot days are momentarily forgotten and an efficient heating system is in demand! JF Maxwell Company offers condensing gas furnaces with variable speed ECM motors that offer efficient, whisper quiet operation year round (your furnace or air handler is used with the air conditioner too).

Air Handlers

A fan coil takes the place of an evaporator coil when you are not using a furnace for heat. For example, if you only use a heat pump, then you need a fan coil. Fan coils are essentially a combination of the fan motor from a furnace, and the coil from an evaporator coil. Variable speed ECM motors make your home more comfortable, they run quietly and also are more efficient!

Evaporator Coil

Evaporator what? Although you may not know about this piece of equipment, your air conditioner would be useless without it. The evaporator coil holds the chilled refrigerant that the air conditioner pumps inside. Warm air from the home is forced through the coil causing humidity and heat energy to be removed. A UV lamp will keep your coil free from efficiency robbing mold.

Packaged System

A typical residential system is called a split system because part of the equipment is located outside, and the rest is located inside. Sometimes indoor construction makes the indoor equipment not practical. In these instances, a packaged system can be ideal. They combine all of the equipment into a single foot print that is able to be mounted on the roof, or next to the home.

Ductless Split Systems

If you’ve been heating or cooling a living space what doesn’t have access to ducting with a noisy window or floor unit, we have great news for you. Ductless air conditioning, also known as ‘mini-splits’ can provide the quiet, efficient comfort of a big system for areas without ducting. Some homeowners even use ductless systems as a type of zoning to save on utility bills.

Thermostats

Remember the old school, mercury based thermostats? We’ve come a long way since then. Modern thermostats like the Nest feature auto learning and programming capabilities that not only make life easier, but saves you on utility bills. A new thermostat like the ComfortLink II also features other bells and whistles like remote smart phone access.
